A Typical Writing Day
As a writer, I dream of nothing more than creating stories
in made up words and adventures I wish I could go on. My main goal with my
writing is to just keep going no matter what happens BUT if I could take that
full time, it would be amazing. Alas, I don’t live in a fantasy world and I
must work at a day job. So, for all the other writers out there who want to
know how I do it and not go insane. This post is for you.
5am: Usually involves an alarm and two kittens demanding
attention. I then spend 20 minutes checking all my phone notifications, getting
dressed for work. Once I get downstairs I then feed the cats and get my lunch
ready for work.
6am: My designated writing hour! I do two 30 minute sprints
/ Pomodoro’s to get me into the writing mood. Sometimes I reach 700+ words
sometimes I barely make my quota of 380. It all depends on the day.
7am: This is dependent on my shift. If I am on the early I
will be leaving the house. For this post, I will use my late shift. This leaves me with 45 minutes to eat
breakfast, brush my teeth and sneak in some writing.
8am: I leave for work and it takes me between 20-40 minutes
to get there.
9am-5:30pm: I will be working away at the day job. It’s not
exactly the most exhilarating position but it pays my bills.
6-9pm: I will have gotten home, changed and showered. Feed
the cats, give them some affection I’ll do a little bit of exercise and then
get myself sorted for my evening work. I then either cook tea, or have extra
time for writing and blogging. I set a goal for Blog work on Tuesdays and Book
work on Thursday. Whatever extra I fit in is a bonus.
9pm: Will usually find me in bed with a good book and if I
don’t fall asleep by 9:30pm I’ll go to sleep around 10pm.
There you have it. There’s a typical Monday-Friday for me.
Weekends I try and be social, while still keeping my writing time in the mornings,
but as my friends are late risers I get a few extra hours to work.

Fantasy, Adventure and Romance novels. As an avid reader Rhianne has always
been in love with the written word and the emotions a good story can create.
Discovering she had a knack for creating stories as a
teenager, she started work on her first story. However, at 16 the mundane adult
world called her back to an admin job and Rhianne put writing on the back
burner until she turned 20. Rediscovering her fascination with writing and
creating Rhianne then threw herself back into her writing in 2014.
When she isn't catching plot bunnies, typing up her
creations or writing on her blog, you'll find her in front of the television
watching her favourite shows, spending time with her family and getting lost in
