His Duchess Under the Mistletoe by Jeanine Englert #Review # Regency FairytalesBook3 #Giveaway

The third in the Regency Fairytale series by Jeanine Englert, His Duchess Under The Mistletoe, is published today by Mills and Boon. I also have a great giveaway for you to enter. Details are at the foot of this post.

Good tidings…

 Of second chances!

Sullivan MacKay knows destiny’s wicked humor firsthand. At seventeen, Sully’s plans to run away with his orphanage sweetheart, Trudy, were interrupted by a life-changing discovery—he’s a duke’s lost heir! Knowing his title could give Trudy a better life, he left to claim it, but vowed to return…

Years later Trudy has made a vow of her own: She will never marry, instead dedicating herself to her scientific pursuits. Following an unexpected Christmas reunion with old flame Sully, not even the December chill can disguise the burning embers of their lost love, awakening glimmers of a second chance…

My Thoughts
If you have read the two earlier books in the series, you will not be surprised to find that this one focuses on Trudy. An independent young lady, with a passion for science, she is not afraid to stand out and determined to try to carve a career for herself in Science. Self-taught, she shows her aptitude and intelligence but realises that in the male dominated Regency society she lives in, she is going to have an upward climb.
After she meets Sullivan, a recently ennobled Duke, her past comes flooding back to her and many memories which she has long buried. A broken heart has led to her burying any wishes she has had for marriage and motherhood but as the story develops, you understand how deep her trauma has been.
Sullivan is an unconventional young man who has a social conscience and a wish to use his wealth and status for the greater good. You can't help but root for the two of them and hope that they get what they want in life. With friendship and the family you choose being a huge part of the story, you find that this warm story is a delightful read.
In short: second chances
