You meet Claire at a low point in her career when her latest swimwear design malfunctions. As her story unfolds, you understand why this has been such an obsession with her and why she views parenthood as she does. Claire's husband, David has died recently and a shocking revelation leads to her going to France on a mission which will change her life.

There are different layers to the story as you try to understand what is behind Claire and David's behaviour, Claire is in for some huge surprises which leads her to question her marriage although she never doubts that David loved her. The seasonal setting adds a sparkle to the story but you do not feel out of place reading it earlier in the year. With the possibility of a later in life romance, you are willing Claire on for a new beginning.

About the Author

One of Debra Borchert’s first jobs was as an Elf for Santa breakfasts where she served juice and cookies to tiny tots all aglow, so it makes sense her first romance novel, His Last Christmas Gift, takes place during this festive season. She is the author of the award-winning Château de Verzat series (Her Own Legacy, Her Own Revolution, Her Own War), and its companion cookbook, Soups of Château de Verzat.
