A Perfect Devon Summer by Debbie Morrison #Review #Brambleton

A Perfect Devon Summer  by Debbie Morrison was published by Prosperina Press  on 25th June 2026   Will this summer change everything for Trish – and for Brambleton?   Trish has spent years turning her beloved café-bookshop, Prosecco & Prose, into the social heart of Brambleton – until London developer Charlie Blackthorn arrives with plans for a sleek boutique hotel next door.   Handsome and confident, Charlie is certain he knows what’s best for Trish and Brambleton. His proposal splits the village, stirring wounds and firing up opinions.   When Brambleton’s anonymous new agony aunt weighs in, Trish is pushed out from the safety of her café counter into a summer of impossible decisions. Charlie may be infuriating, but he sees strengths in her she’s long forgotten, and his kindness unsettles her more than his hotel ever could. As tensions rise, should she defend her little kingdom from change… or dare to imagine something bigger?   Escap...

Beauty and the Brooding Viscount by Jeanine Englert #Review #Giveaway

There is a fairy tale element to this historical romance by Jeanine Englert. Beauty and the Brooding Viscount will be published by Mills and Boon on May 21st. I also have a great giveaway for you to enter. Details are at the foot of this post.

A Regency fairytale retelling with a grumpy sunshine romance

To make her mark…

She must find his match!

It’s a tale as old as time: Lucas Worthing, a wealthy Viscount, is reluctantly obliged to find a high-society wife. Especially with a deathbed promise to his mother to fulfill! But the odds are stacked against battle-scarred Lucas when the gossip sheets persist in calling him the Beast of Barnett House. Enter the Cupid’s Arrow Agency…

Matchmaking for reclusive Lucas won’t be easy, but plucky Ophelia Granger isn’t deterred by his imposing castle or gruff demeanor. If she can pull this off, her business stands a chance of success. Yet there’s nothing harder than finding a bride for the man you’re falling for yourself!

 My Thoughts

This is a most entertaining Regency Drama with echoes of the Fairytale, Beauty and the Beast.  The Viscount has been living a reclusive existence following his return from battle but it is soon evident that he has a kind, generous and sensitive nature. Lucas becomes determined to fulfil his duty to his family and provide an heir, which leads to his friendship with Ophelia who is keen to start up her own business as a matchmaker.

If you have read the first in this series, Cinderella's Charade with the Duke, you will recognise several of the characters, especially Ophelia and her friends. It is interesting to see Ophelia mixing in society and hoping that she can establish herself as an independent woman. The society events which Ophelia takes Lucas to show you how their friendship is developing and introduces more lively characters. It is Lucas who goes through the greatest transformation and his life in his own home shows you his more sensitive side. This is rewarding reading, as characters strive to see where they belong.

In short: opposites attract
