We are returning to beautiful Scotland,  for Margaret Amatt's third in her Glenbriar  Series,  Pitching Up at Heather Glen. One camping trip, two hearts, and a love that knows no bounds

Logan Ramsay may be intelligent and energetic, but buying Heather Glen campsite could be the worst decision he’s ever made. Working a summer job there as a teenager was a dream, but owning it is a nightmare. He’s barely keeping his head above water and his big plans are on hold.

 

Sensible and reliable Eleanor Kendrick has had a heartbreaking year, losing her beloved mother, and being dumped by her boyfriend. Both Eleanor and her father are struggling to cope. Their camping trip to the Scottish Highlands was meant to rekindle some happiness at a place they both loved in the past, but it gets off to the worst possible start when her father falls on a hill walk. Eleanor falls too – for her father's drop-dead gorgeous rescuer, Logan.

 

The attraction between Eleanor and Logan sparks more heat than a campfire, but will the love they’ve kindled in the glen peter out, or can they find a way back to each other once the holiday is over?

 My Thoughts

I always enjoy returning to a series and seeing how some of the characters we have met are getting along. This story focuses on Logan, who spent time at Thistle Lodge in Book 2. He has bought a rather rundown camping and outdoor activity park in the Highlands and is struggling to cope without staff. Along comes Eleanor and her father who are coming to the campsite to reminisce about previous holidays spent there when she was a young teenager. The chemistry between them is off the scale and Logan begins to doubt his ability to turn the campsite around.

    His family reappear during the story, adding some humour and also warmth as they can see how he is struggling. The setting is idyllic with plenty of difficult and demanding customers cropping up. Eleanor has her own issues to work through as she grieves the loss of her mother and tries to support her father who is feeling bereft. She is in danger of giving up her own ambitions and has to listen to a few home truths as she tries to work it out. This is a lovely read. It can be read as a standalone, but the first two in the series fill in so much about the characters. I am anticipating the next in the series.

Margaret is a Scottish author and chocolate lover who has been writing stories for over twenty years possibly more if you count her primary school efforts). Her early works will never see the light of day and are locked in dusty vaults on some old floppy disks. But after all those years of practise, Margaret released her first novel A Winter Haven in 2021. This is the first of a ten-book series set on the gorgeous Scottish Isle of Mull. Margaret has also written three books in The Glenbriar Series with more planned for 2023.

The stories are unashamedly romantic but with lots of drama and an eclectic mix of characters. Each book can be read as a standalone but followers of the series will enjoy catching up with the characters.
