Coming Home to Maple Lodge by Alison Sherlock #Review

I am delighted to feature the first in Alison Sherlock's new series set in the Corswolds. Coming Home to Maple Tree Lodge was published by Boldwood Books on June 20th. A family and hotel in desperate need of help… Maple Tree Lodge has been the home of the Jackson family for over a century. But the hotel has never been a success and, following the sudden loss of his father, architect Ben Jackson soon discovers the hotel is close to financial ruin. Ben has to make some tough decisions if the hotel is to survive and his family are to keep a roof over their heads. With the hotel in urgent need of a renovation, Ben’s sister calls on the talents of her best friend, interior designer Lily Watson. Cash strapped Lily needs a successful project to prove to herself and her high-achieving parents that she can carve a successful career and Maple Tree Lodge sounds like just the place for Lily to showcase her talents. A Laird Without A Past by Jeanine Englert #Review #Giveaway #SecretsofClanCameron

We are back in the Scottish Highlands for another historical romance. A Laird Without a Past  by Jeanine Englert was published  on July 20th. You may recognise some of the characters from Conveniently Wed To The Laird which I reviewed here. I also have a great giveaway for you to enter. Details are at the foot of this post.

His past is forgotten…

Can his mysterious healer unlock his future?

When Royce wakes with no memories and suddenly blind, his situation seems dire. The only thing he remembers is being attacked by shadowy figures...but not the beautiful woman who came to his rescue. Now Iona MacKenzie’s every touch drives Royce wild. But when news of a manhunt for him reaches them, Royce must uncover his past if he has any chance of saving himself—and the woman he’s falling for…

My Thoughts

We are back in the Scottish Highlands, catching up with the Clan Cameron. This story centres around Royce and his journey to try to discover the truth behind his father's actions years ago. You can read it as a standalone but I would recommend reading Conveniently Wed To The Laird first, which fills in some but not all of the family's past and introduces the main characters.

Royce, although an obvious leader, is at his most vulnerable, due to his injuries as a result of a vicious beating. Forced to rely on Iona, je takes a long hard look at how and why he has shut people off in the past. Iona also lives a solitary life, afraid of how people might see her, but her kindness and generosity shine through. With plenty of action and even more romance, this is an entertaining instalment in the lives of the Cameron Clan.

In short: secrets and danger
