Faking Friends by Jane Fallon ** Blog Tour **

I am delighted to be part of the Blog Tour to celebrate the Sunday Times Bestselling author, Jane Fallon's Faking Friends- in fact this is the final stop on the tour!

Best friend. Soulmate. Confidante.
Back-stabber.

Amy thought she knew who Melissa was - then again, Amy also thought she was on the verge of the wedding of her dreams to her long-distance fiancé. When her career begins to unravel, she pays a surprise trip home to London. Her boyfriend Jack is out, but another woman has been making herself at home . . . And that Other Woman is Melissa. Amy has lost her job, her fiancé and her home in one disastrous weekend - but instead of falling apart she's determined to get her own back. Piecing her life back together won't be half as fun as dismantling theirs, after all.

My Thoughts

What a great read this turned out to be. I read it over the course of a day and loved all the twists and turns. With some humour, lots of surprises and revenge brewing and a whole cast of characters, it was a real page turner. I couldn't believe some of the things Amy got up to in her quest to get even. Amy herself is a great character with such a lot of personality and heart. No matter what she did, I was always rooting for her. She is far from perfect but always kept my sympathy.

Punctuated through the story are episodes from the past which illuminate Amy's relationship with the other people we meet and which shed light on her friendships and her attitude towards her career. She never gives up and she certainly won't be put down but she is a likeable woman with a basic sense of decency at her core. What constitutes real friendship and how to recognise it runs as a theme throughout the story. At different points in the book, you see different character's viewpoints which adds interest.

Is revenge always sweet? Not really but Amy has to find that out for herself.

In short: great characters, a little romance and enough twists and turns to keep you on your toes- highly recommended.
