Marine archaeologist Lauren Sunshine is used to life on the go. Her suitcase is always packed ready to explore the country’s underwater heritage so when a shipwreck is found off the Dorset coast, she is thrilled to be leading the excavation team.

Philippa Silver, ‘Phil’ to the folk of Sea Glass Cove, has devoted her life to the Museum by the Sea. But funding is tight, and despite subletting half of the museum to her best friend Jules's sea glass shop, she fears for the museum’s future.

Phil hopes the wreck discovery could bring more visitors, but there’s a problem – the museum’s too small to house its treasures. Thankfully, new friend Lauren seems as determined as she is to save the museum.

But, when Phil’s brother Ollie catches Lauren’s eye, she begins to wonder if she has more than one reason to be interested in life at Sea Glass Cove….


My Thoughts

When Lauren finds herself working at Sea Glass Cove, she doesn’t expect to make friends as quickly as she does or to become involved in other people’s lives. She has always concentrated on her work, afraid to get diverted from her career path, leading dives. However, all that is about to change. The story of the local museum and its fight to survive soon feels personal. The wreck offshore and the supply of sea glass which gives the cove its name has had a big effect on the lives of many in the village and the search for the missing Tudor chess pieces brings several people together.

    Alongside Lauren’s growing friendship with Ollie is the close relationship between Phil, the Museum’s curator and Jules, her closest  friend. Admitting how they both feels takes time but has been obvious to their friends. The community is centred on the local pub and there you glimpse its community spirit. With an interesting plot woven around the subject of marine archaeology and several romantic attachments to unravel, this provides an interesting read. 

In short: taking a leap of faith and putting down roots
