Coming Home to Maple Lodge by Alison Sherlock #Review

I am delighted to feature the first in Alison Sherlock's new series set in the Corswolds. Coming Home to Maple Tree Lodge was published by Boldwood Books on June 20th. A family and hotel in desperate need of help… Maple Tree Lodge has been the home of the Jackson family for over a century. But the hotel has never been a success and, following the sudden loss of his father, architect Ben Jackson soon discovers the hotel is close to financial ruin. Ben has to make some tough decisions if the hotel is to survive and his family are to keep a roof over their heads. With the hotel in urgent need of a renovation, Ben’s sister calls on the talents of her best friend, interior designer Lily Watson. Christmas at the Marshmallow Cafe by CP Ward #Review

Today's festive read, Christmas at the Marshmallow Cafe by CP Ward, is the fourth in his Delightful Christmas series.

When downtrodden checkout assistant Bonnie Green receives a letter from a mysterious uncle, she can hardly believe her eyes.

Gifted a hundred-year lease on a famous cafe situated in the middle of a mythical theme park, Bonnie sets off with her best friend Debbie on an adventure to a hidden valley in the Lake District where they will find new friendship, love, and happiness, all set against the magic of Christmas ... and more marshmallows than they can possibly eat....

My Thoughts

This is a delightful festive read, set in a gorgeous Lake District location. Christmasland may have seen better days but it still has a certain charm which appeals to Bonnie from the start. Bonnie is a distinctive central character. In her 50's, she is looking for a change in her life and she finds her inheritance opens up a whole new world to her.

There are some humorous episodes along the way and a variety of quirky characters. Debbie stands out as a true individual and a good friend. A lovely mix of humour and romance, this will appeal to anyone looking for a little festive escape with a heart-warming feel.

In short: Visit Christmasland for a heart-warming read!
