My Thoughts

It took me a while to acclimatise myself to who was who and where we were in the story but once I had sorted out who I thought everyone was, I really settled into the novel. Of course, that is when the author started to spring his surprises and I began to realise that I wasn't sure who could be trusted and what was going to happen next. The writer brilliantly wrong- foots the reader and it is only at the end that you realise that the perpetrator has been hiding in plain sight. 

    The setting and environment are intrinsic to the story and I loved the way the characters were all trapped together by the climate. Just as in an Agatha Christie crime novel, the suspects are all gathered together, apart from the rest of the world. In this case, they are all isolated at the foot of the world for the longest period of darkness, the Night Shift. I found the writer's style of writing to be fluid and easy to read, never quite knowing where he was going to take me. 

In short: Crime meets science fiction- I loved it!
