I have been enjoying yet another new series by Sarah Bennett. The Best Thing that Ever Happened was published on March 17th by Boldwood Books!

My Thoughts
In this instalment in the Halfmoon Quay series, you find out more about the family dynamics behind some of the characters. Kat is stuck at home at the beginning of the story, trying to understand her parents' uneven relationship and desperate to get her independence back. She has sacrificed her ambitions to help her father but realises that the time has come to put herself before her parents' needs. Harry's large, affectionate family could not be more of a contrast to Kat's more solitary, cold upbringing. However, he has some complicated feelings to work through, especially where his brothers are concerned. He too has ambitions to branch out on his own, if only he can put his needs first. Both Harry and Kat are people pleasers.
The Halfmoon Quay setting fits the story like a glove with the beach offering freedom, right on the doorstep. Kat shows her understanding side when she instinctively knows to give Harry space where reading and writing is concerned. She might devour books but his severe dyslexia is a major obstacle to Harry's plans to set up his own business. He has found ways around it but is still very sensitive and Kat remembers how it affected him when they were at school. I really enjoyed this aspect of the story and the history that was between them. With friendship, family and growing romance, this is a lovely book to curl up to.

About the Author
Sarah Bennett has been reading for as long as she can
remember. Raised in a family of bookworms, her love affair with books of all
genres has culminated in the ultimate Happy Ever After – getting to write her
own stories to share with others.
Born and raised in a military family, she is happily married
to her own Officer (who is sometimes even A Gentleman). Home is wherever he
lays his hat, and life has taught them both that the best family is the one you
create from friends as well as relatives.
When not reading or writing, Sarah is a devotee of afternoon
naps and sailing the high seas, but only on vessels large enough to accommodate
a casino and a choice of restaurants.
