A Lot To Unpack by Portia Macintosh #Review

I am delighted to feature another romcom by Portia Macintosh. A Lot to Unpack  was published on October 2nd by Boldwood Books.

It’s going to be a bumpy ride... 👀

Liberty’s just landed her dream job. The catch? It’s at Matcher, the dating app that ruined her life. After catching her boyfriend sending intimate pictures to everyone in a twenty mile radius, Liberty is struggling to get back into the dating game. Every man gives her the ick sooner or later.

Still, she’s having a great time travelling the world for work, until she’s assigned a secret mission: Travel to New York with her handsome and charming boss Jordan and swap out a contract from under his nose. It should be easy, but the more time Liberty spends with Jordan, the more she realises he might not be the bad boy she thought he was. But it turns out they’ve both got a lot to unpack, and Liberty still needs to complete her mission if she wants to keep her job - which means not breaking the one golden rule: do not fall for the boss!

My Thoughts

This is a romcom to make you laugh out loud as you follow Liberty's attempts to make something of her new job. Her own attempts at dating raise a smile as she tries to give online dating a go, even if it is in the name of research for work. I did have to suspend belief that Liberty would take her new job under its rather mysterious conditions but that didn't matter once the story got underway.

Liberty takes you on quite a journey and her attempts to carry out her boss's wishes get her into some tricky situations. Nevertheless, she seems to be a master in styling out embarrassing situations and takes you with her though the story. Liberty's trust issues around men after her treatment by her ex-boyfriend mean that she tries to keep Jordan at a distance. However from the start, there is a certain chemistry which often threatens to spark into the open but I did enjoy her 'undercover activities' as she tried to carry out her secret mission. Bold, witty and with a touch of romance, this is a romcom to enjoy.

In short: humour and romance collide
