Coming Home to Maple Lodge by Alison Sherlock #Review

I am delighted to feature the first in Alison Sherlock's new series set in the Corswolds. Coming Home to Maple Tree Lodge was published by Boldwood Books on June 20th. A family and hotel in desperate need of help… Maple Tree Lodge has been the home of the Jackson family for over a century. But the hotel has never been a success and, following the sudden loss of his father, architect Ben Jackson soon discovers the hotel is close to financial ruin. Ben has to make some tough decisions if the hotel is to survive and his family are to keep a roof over their heads. With the hotel in urgent need of a renovation, Ben’s sister calls on the talents of her best friend, interior designer Lily Watson. Cash strapped Lily needs a successful project to prove to herself and her high-achieving parents that she can carve a successful career and Maple Tree Lodge sounds like just the place for Lily to showcase her talents. Floating Solo by Shelley Wilson #Review

Fancy taking a leisurely boat ride along a beautiful Warwickshire canal? Floating Solo by Shelley Wilson was published by Hillfield Publishing on November 5th.

Are you single?

Have you lost your confidence when it comes to travelling?

Would you welcome a few weeks away to find that missing spark?

Climb aboard the Creaky Cauldron for an adventure like no other!

Budding entrepreneur Kat Sinclair wants to grow her quirky solo narrowboat holiday enterprise but faces rejection at every turn. Until a Hollywood film crew gets in touch with the potential to change her business, dreams, and love life forever.

'Enemies to lovers'

'Small town romance'

 My Thoughts

You can't help but fall under the spell of life on the canals when you read this story. Kat has big dreams for her business but seems to lack confidence to put it into action. Her Floating Solo holidays are very successful for her clients and many use the experience to sort out their thoughts and plan their future. During her journey with her American guests, Kat seems to benefit from this herself. You find out quite a bit about Kat's life and why she has chosen to live alone with a very small group of trusted friends. She is wary of strangers at the moment.

The American travellers are an entertaining bunch, full of warmth and together they all form a family. It takes Kat some time to work out the dynamics between them and Jordan, the film star, is the most complicated of them all. There are moments of light and shade in the story but overall, the tone is uplifting and engaging.

In short: lively characters and a gentle romance
