The Forever Cottage by Jill Steeples #Review

Having enjoyed Jill Steeples' Primrose Wood series, I am delighted to feature the first in her latest series set in the Cotswolds, The Forever Cottage . It was published by Boldwood Books on June 19th.   It's never too late to change your story... Tess Alexander lives an enviable life with her husband Charles, at Hollyhocks Cottage in the idyllic Cotswold village of Lower Leaping. Dreaming of their early retirement, Tess’s plans are dashed when Charles shares some devastating news and suddenly she’s left alone with only Barney, her adorable Beagle dog, for company. Facing an uncertain future, Tess tries to reconnect with her old self. She begins to transform the neglected garden office into a beautiful retreat, the perfect spot for her to indulge in her long-forgotten creative passions. However, a chance encounter with charming but down on his luck, Rob Templeton, soon puts pay to her plans, when she offers him the place to stay instead, sensing a kindred spirit. ...

And Now You're Back by Jill Mansell #Review

I was thrilled to be able to participate in the celebrations of Jill Mansell's latest novel, And Now You're Back.

One magical night in Venice, Didi fell in love. But it ended - and he left without even saying goodbye.

Now, thirteen years on, Shay Mason is back.

The old spark is still there, but Didi's determined to ignore it. As manager of a stunning Cotswolds hotel, she's happy at last, and soon to be married. Anyway, Shay isn't staying. He's made a promise to his father. He's going to keep it. And then he'll be gone.

But Shay's return stirs up long-forgotten emotions, and the scandal that led him to leave raises its head once again. It's time for buried secrets to come to light. And it seems that this was someone's intention all along . . .

From the beloved author of IT STARTED WITH A SECRET comes a fabulous new novel about love, friendship and finding the way to your best life.

'Reading Jill is always such a joy' VERONICA HENRY

'Gripping and incredibly comforting' MARIAN KEYES

'Like a little blast of sunshine - uplifting, heart-warming and supremely feelgood' SOPHIE KINSELLA

My Thoughts

What a pleasure reading this book was! The writing style flows so beautifully that the story sped by. It is a gentle story of second time around and starting over. The friendships which are depicted are genuine and heart-warming. Some of them are surprising. Didi and Shay's friendship shines through from the start and I am sure that everyone who reads the story is rooting for them. They are both determined to respect each other's present relationships.

I enjoyed reading about the village community and loved the map at the beginning which set the scene. Jill Mansell has created a whole world in a gorgeous Cotswold setting. There are one or two mysteries which are there to be uncovered, which include some lovely characters who add to the feelgood atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed the book which is highly recommended.

In short: Are second chances possible or is it too late?
