Coming Home to Maple Lodge by Alison Sherlock #Review

I am delighted to feature the first in Alison Sherlock's new series set in the Corswolds. Coming Home to Maple Tree Lodge was published by Boldwood Books on June 20th. A family and hotel in desperate need of help… Maple Tree Lodge has been the home of the Jackson family for over a century. But the hotel has never been a success and, following the sudden loss of his father, architect Ben Jackson soon discovers the hotel is close to financial ruin. Ben has to make some tough decisions if the hotel is to survive and his family are to keep a roof over their heads. With the hotel in urgent need of a renovation, Ben’s sister calls on the talents of her best friend, interior designer Lily Watson. Cash strapped Lily needs a successful project to prove to herself and her high-achieving parents that she can carve a successful career and Maple Tree Lodge sounds like just the place for Lily to showcase her talents. However, Lily’s vision for a cosy, country Cotswolds hotel is the com...

Valentina by Cristina Hodgson ** Blog Tour Review & Giveaway **

Chantelle Rose is back. She has lived a fairytale. But will she ever get her Happy Ever After?

To find true happiness, she must discover who Robbie and Lionel really are. Their past holds the key to her future.

Her quest follows a trail that takes her to the depths of the Pampas lands of Argentina.

There, the beautiful Valentina awaits – and holds the key.

But who is Valentina? What is the mystery surrounding her?

And why is she so important to both Robbie and Lionel?

Will Chantelle discover the truth? And, more importantly, will she discover her destiny and the fidelity in her own heart?

My Thoughts

In Valentina, we learn more about Lionel and Robbie's past and how Chantelle is herself involved. Chantelle's situation becomes complicated and she realises her true feelings about the two men. Valentina's story is told in parallel to Chantelle's present day one and eventually the two story lines and characters collide.

Still escapist romance, I would say that I enjoyed Valentina more than the first in the series, A Little of Chantelle Rose. It has a strong story line with character based mysteries to unravel and you do root for Chantelle throughout. I appreciated the little touches of humour and the way that the writing style adapts when you go from past to present with Chantelle's dialogue much more salty and down to earth! I see that there is to be a third in the series, so we will see what Chantelle does next.

In short:  A blend of love stories thwarted by mystery and exotic locations to savour.
