Coming Home to Maple Lodge by Alison Sherlock #Review

I am delighted to feature the first in Alison Sherlock's new series set in the Corswolds. Coming Home to Maple Tree Lodge was published by Boldwood Books on June 20th. A family and hotel in desperate need of help… Maple Tree Lodge has been the home of the Jackson family for over a century. But the hotel has never been a success and, following the sudden loss of his father, architect Ben Jackson soon discovers the hotel is close to financial ruin. Ben has to make some tough decisions if the hotel is to survive and his family are to keep a roof over their heads. With the hotel in urgent need of a renovation, Ben’s sister calls on the talents of her best friend, interior designer Lily Watson. Cash strapped Lily needs a successful project to prove to herself and her high-achieving parents that she can carve a successful career and Maple Tree Lodge sounds like just the place for Lily to showcase her talents. Snowflakes over Holly Cove by Lucy Coleman ** Blog Tour Review & Giveaway**

Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for Lucy Coleman's Snowflakes over Holly Cove. I am delighted to be able to bring you this festive romance.  I also have a great International Giveaway- details on how to enter are at the foot of this post.

As the snowflakes start to fall, Holly Cove welcomes a new tenant to the beautiful old cottage on the beach...

For lifestyle magazine journalist Tia Armstrong, relationships, as well as Christmas, have lost all their magic. Yet Tia is up against a Christmas deadline for her latest article 'Love is, actually, all around...'

So, Tia heads to Holly Cove where the restorative sea air and rugged stranger, Nic, slowly but surely start mending her broken heart.

Tia didn't expect a white Christmas, and she certainly never dared dream that all her Christmas wishes might just come true...

Set in Caswell Bay on the stunningly beautiful Gower Coast, the cottage nestles amid the limestone cliffs and the woodlands, where the emotions run as turbulently as the wind-swept sea.

As cosy as a marshmallow-topped mug of cocoa, fall in love with a heart-warming festive story from the bestselling author of The French Adventure.

My Thoughts

I was quickly drawn into this heart-warming story with all its emphasis on family, friendship and evaluating what is important in life. Both Tia and Nic have been through life changing events which are not easily or quickly recovered from. They both are trying to decide just what they want from life and I found them both to be engaging and sympathetic characters.

Holly Cove is beautifully evoked. You can visualise the little, close-knit community and beautiful scenery. Some of the locals made me smile and Olwen turns out to be the mother hen of the village, looking out for everyone. I liked the way different stages of relationships were shown through Tia's journalism as she interviewed different couples. Loss and grief are in the mix as well but the overall momentum in the story is of hope and moving forward away from the past, and making new memories to sit alongside the old ones.

In short: Finding love and friendship in unexpected places.
